Using Adobe Voice in a Classroom
What’s Adobe Voice for?
Adobe Voice is an award-winning free iPad app that helps anyone create stunning animated videos. Just talk to tell your story, one line at a time, and Voice will make you and your students sound amazing. It provides millions of free Creative Commons photos and icons, music, and motion themes to make your story look great. Create videos to bring ideas to life, with cinema‑quality animation — in minutes.
How can I use Adobe Voice in my classroom?
Designed by an educator, Adobe Voice scaffolds the storytelling process to help teach your students how to structure effective, engaging stories and videos. It encourages experimentation, iteration, and creativity. And it lets students, from young students to graduate students, focus on their big ideas and create a great video in 20 minutes.
Students and teachers around the world use Adobe Voice for classroom projects and presentations, explainer videos that introduce concepts, lesson plans and prompts, creative storytelling, and more. We’re excited to see how you and your students use it!
Can multiple students use Voice on the same iPad?
Yes! Some classrooms use multiple free Adobe ID accounts, to keep students’ projects and published videos separate from one another. Others choose to share a single account per teacher or classroom, which allows students to open and edit each others’ projects.
Can I use Adobe Voice with children in a classroom?
Yes. Adobe Voice takes advantage of online services that let you access and save photos and videos online. If you plan to use Adobe Voice with students under the age of 13, the teacher (and not the student) must create the account.
Does my classroom need an Internet connection to use Adobe Voice?
Nope — you can use Adobe Voice offline. You’ll need to be online to create an account and sign into Voice for the first time, but afterward you can use Voice without an Internet connection. Online features like photo and icon search require connectivity, but you can always create fantastic stories using your own narration, photos, text, and the iPad camera.
What are some tips for making a great video?
Voice works great whether you make up a story as you go or script a rough outline in advance. If you’re having trouble starting, try the story structures that Voice offers when you create a new story — they’ll guide you through crafting a great beginning, middle, and end.
Your voice helps you connect with your audience and makes your story or presentation personal. Just talk naturally, like you’re talking to a friend — Voice will automatically sweeten your voice so it sounds great!
When recording, keep it short and simple: Just one short sentence per page is best! You can always add more pages to tell more of your story. Using shorter recordings across more pages lets you include more photos and icons to support your narration, making your video more engaging. And play with your narration. For example, to emphasize something important or dramatic: hold record, then pause before and after saying it. Remember: Voice makes it effortless to re-record; just hold the record button and talk again. So have fun experimenting and learning!

Brief how-to video

Founded in 2003, the nonprofit organization StoryCorps, based in Brooklyn, New York has given 100,000 people the chance to record interviews about their lives, pass wisdom from one generation to the next, and leave a legacy for the future. It is the largest single collection of human voices ever gathered.
StoryCorps shares edited excerpts of these stories with the world through popular weekly NPR broadcasts, animated shorts, digital platforms, and best-selling books. These powerful conversations illustrate our shared humanity and show how much more we share in common than divides us.
StoryCorps interviews have traditionally been recorded in StoryCorps booths in the United States with the assistance of StoryCorps facilitators. With the introduction of this app, StoryCorps interviews can now be recorded anywhere, anytime and shared to our companion website at StoryCorps.me. For at least one year after launch, interviews shared to StoryCorps.me through the app will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the United States Library of Congress.
